E-Session | Audrey and Brian

November 18th, 2010 by Nick

We met Audrey and Brian earlier this year at a Bridal Expo and were happy when they contacted us for a consultation. Audrey had a clear idea of what she wanted and it sounded great to us. Audrey and Brian are high school sweethearts and wanted to capture some special moments around town at locations that had meaning to them and their relationship.

The engagement session with Audrey and Brian has been an ongoing project for a few weeks now. There were a number of locations they wanted to shoot at, so we split it up over 3 sessions. It took a bit of time to get them all done because of weather, but we managed to get them all in before the first snow. Another unique aspect of this shoot which we really enjoyed was that they requested all of the images to be in black and white. Although vivid colors can be beautiful, they can also be distracting – shooting in purely black and white allows us to focus on the subject and the composition of the photo. In some cases, the color version of these photos would not have even made the final cut.

The first stop was Holy Cow Ice Cream in Red Hook, NY for a small cone.

And then we moved on to Village Pizza in Rhinebeck, NY.

Brian suggested a shot with them standing on the roof. At first we didn’t think it was such a hot idea, but in the end it turned out great – thanks Brian!

E-Session | Brienne and Eric

November 5th, 2010 by Nick

Brienne and Eric came to us through a referral from a past client (thanks Nicole and James!). We met on a beautiful and sunny, but chilly day at the Waterfront in Cornwall, NY, a small park and marina on the bank of the Hudson River. Brienne and Eric had the scoop on how we shoot our Engagement sessions, so they showed up ready and willing to do whatever was asked of them. We walked around the waterfront area and found plenty of great spots to shoot.

It was very windy down by the water, but we managed to get a few good shots where Brienne’s hair wasn’t blowing all over.

I love this shot of Brienne, she’s a natural in front of the camera.

We wanted Brienne and Eric to go out on the dock a bit, but it was rocking pretty good from the wind and waves. We decided to keep them safe on the boat launch ramp, with the dock in the backdrop.

The waterfront in Cornwall looks up the Hudson River toward Newburgh – you can see the Newburgh-Beacon bridge in the background.

After we left the waterfront, we headed back to Brienne and Eric’s apartment to take some shots in the yard.

Even their dog Lou got in on the action.

We had a great time shooting your Engagement Session and we are looking forward to a fun and exciting Wedding next year!

E-Session | Jessica and Anthony

October 16th, 2010 by Nick

We haven’t put up a blog post in a while, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been busy. We are working on a number of engagement sessions for 2011 weddings, and this session at Vanderbilt Mansion is one of them. We had a great time shooting Jessica and Anthony, there are so many great places to shoot at Vanderbilt. We shot in so many locations that it was dark outside by the time we finished.

The steps leading up to the front door are great if you can get in there when nobody else is there, and the reflection pool in the garden was perfect that day.

Love the brick wall near the garden.

Last September, we began our photographic relationship with Maritza and Erwin during our engagement shoot in Central Park, New York, NY. Here is a preview shot from the wedding day.
